| Ronald William "Ron" Howard is an American movie director as well as an actor. Howard first came to prominence as an actor starring in the films of 1960s and 1970s. Having quit his career as an actor, he has directed plenty of films, including the bestseller The Da Vinci Code, and its loud sequel, Angels & Demons.
The film is based on the novel written by Dan Brown, the author of The Da Vinci Code that made the mankind split into two groups - those who are for it and those who are against it, inclusive of the Roman Catholic Church. Although The Da Vinci Code was banned in a lot of countries, a considerable number of people worldwide have watched the film.
Angels & Demons continues to display the immortal rivalry between the Church and science emphasised in The Da Vinci Code.
The plot of the movie Angels & Demons features the aspiration of Harvard University historian and iconologist Robert Langdon to reveal the enigmas of a powerful underground society known as the Illuminati.
The Vatican faces a threat when the top four cardinals to substitute the deceased Pope are abducted by the Illuminati that adhere to scientific knowledge. The Church is promised that each cardinal will be put to death one per hour starting at 8 pm, culminating with a detonation of an antimatter bomb underneath St Peter's Cathedral at midnight destructing the sacred city. To deal with this horrifying jeopady, the Church hires historian and iconologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) who knows a lot about the powerful secret society. He is put to work promptly, hurrying to find the kidnapped cardinals by deciphering clues, symbols and other historical facts. Robert Langton accompanied by physicist Vittoria tries to unveil the death of the Pontiff.
The images of Rome in the film are magnificent and breathtaking. The watcher has an opportunity to walk along the streets of Rome and see the most famous historical and cultural masterpieces together with the film characters.
The film does well to engross interest through its explanations of historical events and the inside organisation of the Vatican. The plot keeps the viewer engaged and interested till the very end of the movie. The plot unfolds with unexpected twists and turns that leave the viewer thrilled. |
